Feeling anxious can be a very normal experience. We all have had to deal with increased levels of anxiety during periods of high stress or tension. ( exams, work, relationships, loss). When in a high level of Anxiety we create Adrenalin and Cortisol which makes us feel uncomfortable and can result in loss of appetite, poor sleep patterns and overthinking. When we feel anxious we operate in the old part of the brain ( emotional) which feeds on the “3 F’s “( flight ,fight or freeze). Operating this way affects our ability to rationalise a situation and assess it true danger or threat. C.B.T./ Mindfulness can really help as they works on challenging the maladaptive thoughts ( negative) and helps create a more balanced view , as well as learning to cope with the chaotic thought processing .
